Our Process
- Ask the client. I ask which aspect the client would like to work on. This is different for everyone. However, I like to divide the hour in half so we can work on two skill sets, if possible. (From time to time, however, we might only get hitting done, as an example. I WON’T let the athlete fail, but we also won’t move on until a skill is learned and mastered !!)
- Stretch to loosen up.
- Review what was learned the previous session. This is done by performing the skill correctly. (If not correct, we work until it is consistently performed well.)
- Customized drills. This next part is for increased development. I customize drills that will help advance them to the next level of their development.
**In a normal session, the above will take a half hour and then on to another aspect for another 30 minutes.
During each session we take video of their swing or pitch so they can “see” what they’re doing. This is SO IMPORTANT when it comes to the athletes development.
We also show pictures of MLB players or former clients to reinforce their training and show what their body ‘should’ be doing.
We have a radar gun to show before and after.
For new clients, I use both technologies to establish baseline readings in their original skill sets. (i.e. exit velo, pitch velo, hip turn ratio, etc.)
Having been an educator for 30 years, I employ instructional methods that cover the three ways people learn …
Auditory, Visual, and Kinesthetics or Hands-on.
We also use various ‘tools’ of the trade while developing custom made drills for each athlete.
