Dr. Michael “Doc” Elke
Doc grew up in the small farming community of Cavalier, located in northeast North Dakota.
He lettered in football, basketball, track, and was the captain of the golf team.
He played summer baseball until his last year of American Legion.
Coach Elke’s passion for baseball continued to grow as he played collegiately at Northland Community College and Bemidji State University, respectively.
Doc was also the assistant head coach/hitting coach for the NCC women’s softball team for two years. He helped coach this team to its first state tournament berth in school history.
At Bemidji, Doc was the hitting coach along with his playing duties.
Doc has coached baseball since the age of fifteen which also included umpiring for many years.
Besides his college positions, Doc has coached at the high school level for both girls softball and baseball.
He is a three time Hall of Fame coach with many championships and accolades under his belt in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Texas.
Doc has also coached with two Major League franchises but his greatest achievement has been in developing great people out of the many athletes he’s had the privilege to coach.
